In 2009, I started the company with a vision to improve the variety and quality of physical education within the school day and out of school hours for children and share my passion for sport
Since then, the company has evolved and now employs a collection of skilled coaches including Sports Coaches, qualified teachers and teaching assistants who share my passion for inspiring children to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
From childhood, sport has been a huge part of my life. My career in sport began at a young age as I was fortunate enough to be invited to play football for Walsall and Aston Villa football club youth academies.
Following this, I was determined to follow my dream of becoming a qualified fitness coach and personal trainer. To do this, I gained qualifications in a variety of sports such as swimming, handball, football, gymnastics, tennis, rugby and balance biking.
I used the knowledge I had gained to work as an independent coach for several years but as I could see the demand for quality, out of school provision was growing, I decided to start my own company- Active Learning Sports.
We have been hosting Holiday Camps at Shobnall Primary School for the past 11 years, Thomas Russell Infants School for the past 5 years both schools are within the JTMAT Academy Trust. Are largest venue is at William Shrewsbury Primary School, a 3 form entry Primary School which is in the Co-operative Acadmy Trust., we have worked here for the past 5 years. All of our camps has been extremely well attended by children from all over Burton Upon Trent and Barton under Needwood.
Providing Holiday Camps to all of our Schools has proven to be extremely successful as we are providing a great service to the parents, children and also increasing revenue for schools in the school holidays.

With over 20 years of experience as a qualified primary school teacher, Hannah Bowen brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Head of Recruitment at Active Learning Sports. Throughout her career, Hannah has developed a strong passion for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
After many successful years teaching in primary schools, Hannah took on the role of SLE as part of the Arthur Terry Academy Trust teaching school. In this position, she supported teachers and training teachers in their professional development. She honed her skills in recruitment, assessment, and professional development - talents that she now applies to building the exceptional team of PE instructors at Active Learning Sports.
As Head of Recruitment, Hannah carefully handpicks each new staff member, ensuring they possess not only the necessary qualifications, but also the perfect blend of skills, experience and enthusiasm to deliver the highest quality physical education lessons. Hannah's commitment to excellence extends beyond the hiring process - she also leads the ongoing assessment and professional development of the Active Learning Sports team, working to continuously elevate their abilities.
With her dual expertise in both education and recruitment, Hannah plays a pivotal role in upholding Active Learning Sports' reputation for providing students with transformative PE experiences led by truly outstanding instructors. Her dedication to developing talented, passionate educators is an invaluable asset to the organisation and the communities it serves.
